Guidelines for Operating in the Gift of Discerning of Spirits

1. Cultivate the Gift. Every of the gifts of the Spirit is already done in side of you. The ones you are not operating with are the ones you have not yet activated. You can grow or cultivate the gifts. The gift of Discerning of Spirits can be cultivated by the exercising of spiritual senses. Hebrews 5:14 says, “But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil [spiritual interpretation of what the normal senses show].” If you want to grow in any gift, exercise it or practice it. You can't get better if you don't train yourself in it. When I started seeing in the spirit, I train myself the more by telling people to give me their prayer requests. So when I get the prayer requests, I pray on them and trust God to show me something I should know or pray for. He had someone he was to pray for. He had the picture of the couple on the table. The prayer requests was written at the back of the picture but how we did it was that each one of us would pray for the couple. We were four in number. When it was my turn, I look at the picture but in my spirit, I asked the Lord to show me something. And suddenly, my eye opened and I saw an arrow on the move. On the body of the arrow was written, divorce. Then I told everyone that this couple has a battle with the demon of divorce. I was so accurate that when the back of the picture was turned, one of the prayer requests was that we should pray against divorce. You see that. I didn't know it was written at the back of the picture but with the gift of Discerning of Spirits, I saw the arrow of divorce sent to destroy that couple. So you grow and cultivate it by practicing it.

 

2. Test the Spirits. You are not meant to say everything that you see. Because you will not always see accurate 100% of the time. Therefore what you are to say are the things you have tested and confirmed in your spirit-man that this is a revelation from God. 1John 4:1-3(NIV) — “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.” This is how I check what I have seen. Once I see a vision, dream, revelation, or a spirit, I use some few seconds checking if it's bearing witness with my spirit. I try to check if there's a connection in my spirit. Once I feel that connection, then I am accurate. But if I don't feel the witness in my spirit, then it could come from my soul(imagination) or from my flesh. Then I discard it. I won't say it. Again, if I see a thing but it didn't come with a certain measure of faith in me, then I will not say that even if I am accurate. This is because a visionary experience should be furnished with a divine faith. If there's no faith in me or to declare it, then I will be quite. That’s how I check the spirit to know what I should do or not do. Hope someone Is following?

  3. Examine the Fruit. Anything seen in a vision or dream that is from God must be consistent with the word of God or with the nature of God. No matter what you see or hear, examine the fruit. The fruit deals with the nature, character or features of the thing seen. If it's not in line with the word of God, then discard it. Matthew 7:16- 20(NIV) - “By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.” Make sure you are not seeing what is not in line with the word of God.

 

4. Not the Gift of Suspicion. This understanding is not to be used in gossip and slander, but rather for edification and helping to cure or mend the Body—not hurt it. The gift of Discerning of Spirits is not used to suspect someone. It is used to see in the spirit. It's not used to guess who did what and who did that or to be judgmental. This is used to discern spirits.

5. Wisdom, Wisdom, Wisdom. Use wisdom. Don’t speak when you are not sure the interpretation of the revelation. Wisdom is a necessity. Seek for wisdom beyond your years in the exercising of this explosive gift, and it will be a blessing for you and for the Body of Christ. Read books on the seer anointing. Someone in the group sent me a book on this subject we are dealing on. I think it will be kind of me to share it with everyone. Someone should remind me if I forget to share the book at the end. Get books about how to see in the spirit and read. It will build hunger in you. Nobody will actually teach you how to see. What we can do is to stir your hunger. It is that hunger that will deliver and activate this gift in you. 6.Intercede.With this gift may come faith to act or pray with authority. If you want to activate this gift, learn to pray for people. When you pray for people with sincerity of motive- a heart of love, God will begin to open your eyes to see. That was what helped me also. This is usually true of all the revelatory gifts. First, pray your revelation back to the Father and seek His application. After this, you may choose or be guided by the Holy Spirit to release a command to rebuke the enemy discerned; but always pray first for discernment for what to do with your grace let of distinguishing of spirits. Prayer is the activator. Prayer release the grace to see in the spirit

  Assignment: 1.From tonight, pray and ask God to open your eyes. The eyes of your spirit, when you pray 2. Pick someone to pray for. Speak in tongues till something drops in your spirit about that person! If you do these two things faithfully, get ready to be launched into a seer realm. God bless you.
